Your babies first birthday is always kinda shocking isn’t it?! You find yourself wondering how you got here so fast and yet how slowly it went by. That first year brings a lot of changes as you adjust to a newborn in the house, then the baby stage and shortly afterwards they’re toddling about as you baby proof everything. As a mama and as a family, you adjust with baby to a new normal and it’s hard to imagine life any other way.

That first year is so special and this beautiful family came into my Niagara, ON studio to document Nora turning one, just like they did for Gavin. We had pre-planned their wall gallery to include images from Gavin’s one-year session and some of Nora as well as finishing it all off with some gorgeous updated family portraits. Every detail was considered to ensure a gorgeous wall gallery that they could enjoy for years.

But, like babies occasionally do, Nora decided to throw a curveball at her parents. They tell me she only ever smiles and grins, but not that morning. She was inconsolable. We took our time, let her have plenty of snuggles, milk, singing songs and dancing and eventually, she came around. And it was so worth it. Those beautiful grins just melt my heart!
